Photoshop is the industry standard software for creating, manipulating and compositing digital imagery for use in just about any digital or print media project.

This course is designed to be an introduction for those wishing to learn how to use Photoshop. The main features of the software will be explored in detail.

The course is delivered through instructor led, hands-on exercises tempered with overviews, demonstrations, discussions and individual practice.

Suitable For

Those completely or fairly new to Photoshop looking to get a good understanding of its main features.

Prerequisites

A good working knowledge of the computer and its operating system - for example to be at ease with: opening, closing, saving and locating files; using standard menus, commands and windows.

Course Content

Getting to know the work area
Workspaces, using tools, Options bar, managing panels, undo, redo, History panel.
Basic photo corrections
Resolution, straightening, cropping, colour casts, tonal adjustments, repair work, sharpening.
Working with selections
Selection tools, moving and manipulating selections, refining selection edges.
Layer basics
Layers panel, applying a gradient to a layer, layer styles, flattening layers.
Masks and channels
Quick Mask mode, editing masks, viewing channels, loading masks as selections, type as a mask.
Correcting and enhancing digital photographs
Camera raw files, processing with Camera Raw, perspective editing, creating an image gallery.
Typographic design
Creating and formatting type, type clipping mask, interactive formatting, warping type, warping a layer.
Vector drawing techniques
Creating paths with the Pen tool, working with custom shapes, importing Smart Objects.
