Aperture 3 is a terrific Mac only application for managing photos from organisation and editing through to distribution via web galleries, movies, books or just old fashioned prints.
This course is designed to be an introduction for those wishing to learn how to use Aperture. The main features of the software will be explored in detail.
The course is delivered through instructor led, hands-on exercises tempered with overviews, demonstrations, discussions and individual practice.
Please note that Aperture is a Mac only application - it is not available on Windows.
Suitable For
Those completely or fairly new to Aperture looking to get a good understanding of its main features.
Prerequisites
A good working knowledge of the computer and its operating system - for example to be at ease with: opening, closing, saving and locating files; using standard menus, commands and windows.
A basic understanding of photography and its terminology will be helpful but is not essential.
Course Content
- A quick tour of Aperture
- Interface overview, importing images, rating and rejecting images, sharing photos via email.
- Comparing and evaluating images
- Previews, Full-Screen mode, Loupe tool, rating images, comparing images, Primary Selection mode, stacks, Speed Rating, Light Table.
- Managing Projects and the Library
- Managed and Referenced images, organisation strategies, creating back-ups using Vaults.
- Performing non-destructive editing
- Adjustments Inspector, managing image exposure, cropping.
- Correcting tone
- Adjustments in Full Screen mode, Enhancing adjustments, Highlights and Shadows, Levels, converting colour images to black and white.
- Correcting colour
- Colour adjusmtents with the Enhance controls, selective colour adjusmtents using the Color controls, working with Curves.
- Working with RAW images
- RAW + JPEG pairs, comparing RAW and JPEG files, RAW file fine tuning.
- Delivering final images
- Delivering digital images.
